SNS #167 Sick Day

I have had these photos laying around for a few years. I was stuck on them I just didn't' have a plan. The other day when I was looking at this sketch I originally had planned on doing some super cute Christmas page and when I was digging around in my photos I saw these and I knew just the direction I wanted to to. Do you ever have one plan and end up with a completely other one?

I pulled out some of this retired Sugar Rush Kit...one of my favorites! I also mounted my photos, have not done that in a while. This page would also very easily turn into a double if you wanted. You could either carry the photos on to the next page or do a little 9 photo spread. Either would look fabulous.

Here is a close up of my title and my little swag at the top. I was originally going to do a banner and add some little tassels but decided to use the little gold gems instead.

Here is the sketch for you to use - Sketch N Scrap #167

Oh my goodness - 10 Years ya'all!

Hello hello hello -

We have some BIG things going on with this post! December 2018 marks my TENTH year blogging!!! Whoa...can you believe it?

I can't.

I remember when I started this blog 10 years ago. My stamping friend Patricia told me I should start a blog and I told her nooooo I couldn't do that and she said sure you can it is easy.

The rest is history...I have to say some blogging years I have been a better blogger than others but I really do love it. It sometimes make me a little sad that the blogging world is not the same as it once was with the onset of social media and the loss of the reader programs where you could get your blog fix in one sitting reading, what 200, blogs at once. How I miss that.

I have to share a top 10 list in my 10th year right? Here are 10 of my favorite projects (in no particular order) it was really hard to narrow it down. I must say I am so happy that I have kept this blog because even though I may not have blogged about every project I have ever done I have a huge record of my projects and for the most part if I blogged about them I loved them.

....don't tell anyone but I do have a few doozies out here in blog land that I am not sure why I felt the need to share them but...anyway back to some of my favs.

Summer Sweetness - I have always always loved this stamp set. I just cannot get over how adorable it is and so quick and easy to use. I just used the last of these little seed packet templates but he watermelon one was always my favorite.

Christmas card set - This set just sort of came together with stuff I had forever in my stash and it ended up being one of my favorite Christmas sets I have ever come up with.

That one time my MOM commented on a post - As I was researching this post looking at some of my favorites I saw that somehow someway my mom who doesn't even know a thing about the internet loved and commented on this post. I had totally forgotten this even ever happened. This also does happen to be one of my favorite scrapbook pages still to this day.

A Clear Favorite mini album - I still enjoy flipping through this mini album, it sits on a shelf and I love that it is clear. It is playful, it is fun and it brings back great memories.

Love & Marriage - It only took my daughter 4 years to compete her wedding album I made her but boy was it worth the wait!!!

Fun Flip Card with tons of details - this card is sort of simple but I see it has a lot of cool stuff going on, random stamping, the rock and roll technique, it features the Art Philosophy card and it has some great deminsion. All the workings of a great card.

Christmas gift - I love the way this simple give turned out. It is really amazing how a little something extra can make some thing simple turn into something amazing!

Bike Trio - I love making 3 x 3 cards they are perfect for gift bags or just to leave out for someone special.

A fish story - my mom wanted me to make an album for her and so I created this one of her and her friends on a fishing adventure. She loved it!!!

Way to go - I don't know what it is about this card but it is one of my favorites and I have used this pattern again and again!!!

Bonus - a post about why I love scrapbooking

H2H - Shake it up

This week we are shaking things up a bit over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog - I decided to make a fun card using our new Season of Joy Cricut collection and some beautiful gold sequins.

To make this card I used some edit features in Design Space and added a box around a snow flake to create a box. From there I added another box and then I sliced the image out so I could use it as a shaker card.

We would love to see what you come up with.Shake It Up

SNS Card Sketch #135

I did end up changing this out a bit with a few embellishments instead of a sentiment but I love the overall simplicity of this card. Masculine cards are so hard to come by. I plan on using this sketch time and time again as I really love banners.

I pulled out this long ago Cruisin' WOTG stamp set. I really just cannot get enough of this buffalo plaid from the Hello Pumpkin line.

We would LOVE to see what you come up with using this Card Sketch #135 so make sure to link in over at the Sketch N Scrap blog.

Paper Truffles Team Blog Hop - All Things Christmas

Welcome to the Paper Trufflez Team Blog Hop. The participants in this hop will be highlighting new products from the 2018 Holiday Expressions catalog. If you have come from Lisa's blog, you are on the right path.

The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here. It’s really simple to hop along with us. Simply click on the link at the end of each blog post to move to the next one.

I was really happy with how this simple card all came together. I used the Seasonal Trees -November SOTM a little differently here. I embossed the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Christmas Blessings Stamp Set using our Candy Apple Pigment Pad and some Embossing Powder. I then used a tree top from Seasonal Trees stamped around the sentiment. I added some berries to create this Christmas card that would be very easy to reproduce if you like to make multiples of the same design.

I finished it off with some Liquid Glass on the berries, added a couple of sequins and some Silver Embellishing Thread

Now “hop” on over to Cecilia’s blog to see her fabulous artwork. Be sure to visit all the Consultants in the hop to get some fun creative ideas. If you get lost along the way, here is a list of participants. Thanks for stopping by!

H2H - Spotlight On...

You guys, have you seen this November Stamp of the Month? I love it. I have been making cards left and right with it. When I found out that the challenge for this week the challenge at Heart 2 Heart was going to be Spotlight On...I decided I wanted to create a scene featuring a blue sky. I have always loved this technique but for some reason I really have only done if a couple of times so this was super fun to revisit it.

To create this look I stamped two trees onto White Daisy cardstock. I took the first tree and added some ground cover and then attached it to some Candy Apple cardstock. On the other piece I stamped the little bird and some little stars using VersaMark pad and then I put some embossing powder on top of that. I then used a sponge dauber to swirl around Sapphire ink creating a night sky. Next I used a Thin Cuts - Basic Circle to cut out part of the scene and matched it up to the first tree.
To finish the card off I mounted it on my favorite buffalo pattern paper from the Hello Pumpkin Paper Packet and added some Clear Sparkles.

I really wanted to add a little bit of the Silver Embellishing Thread around the bottom but I couldn't find it. I must not have ordered it so I ordered some and I will add that to the card once it comes to finish it off.

Please make sure you stop by the other H2H Design Team Blogs to see what they came up with using this fun technique.

SNS #164 The Game

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful fall! A few years ago we went down south to celebrate Thanksgiving with my husbands family. We had so much fun and a serious game of Rummy happened. My hubby always likes to circle the winners and the losers especially...ehem, when he is the winner and so this time I happened to take a photo of it.

I used sketch #164 but I rotated it because I really wanted to feature the scores here.

I made a little journaling box and tucked a couple of Stitched Circle Thin Cuts. I also did a lot of fussy cutting on this beautiful Grateful Heart paper.

I also broke into my Gold Shimmer Trim...swoon.

Not sure if you can tell but I brushed the center of each of the flowers with a Gold Shimmer Brush.

Here is the sketch I used, make sure you stop over to the blog to see what  the Design Team came up with.

H2H - Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin Spice and everything nice

I can't remember exactly when it happened but pumpkin season has become a big thing, I mean a really BIG thing! You know what I am talking about, before summer is even over people start going gaga for pumpkin everything...pumpkin latte, pancakes, cookies, pie, oatmeal, even pumpkin beer. Whoa...

You guys...I have a confession...

Pumpkin isn't my jam!

I know, I know, how can I live in the Midwest and love fall and not love it? I just don't. Every year I try a bite of pumpkin pie...nope still not a fan. I have tried the pumpkin beer it was ok but I wouldn't drink one again. I do like pumpkin spice bars...those are yummy.

Anyway I want to like it, I try it here and there but it just isn't my thing. I do love to go to the pumpkin patch! This past year we hit up the pumpkin patch really early but my little one went right before Halloween with her grandparents  so this week I decided to feature our pumpkin carving adventure and Halloween. Make sure you head on over to the Heart 2 Heart blog this week to check out Pumpkin Spice challenge.

I am still working up a storm in my 2017 Pocket Page Album. I had so much fun with these pages. I know I mentioned last week that I sometimes use these smaller Pocket Plus Memory Protectors to make a busy week bigger and here is an example of that.

I pulled out an old favorite the Artbooking Cartridge to make a lot of the details for each pocket. They have a really fun Halloween section. I used it for the round Halloween, the spider web, the film strip, the "trick or treat" the moon and the fence. I love how DS allows me to change the sizes on everything to make it fit to just the right size.

I didn't use it as much here I used it for the web frame and I also used the font from Artistry for "week 44".

I really enjoy making my own cards. I just add a little detail here and there and they all just kind of come together.

Here you can see some of the details a little better.

I also used the new Thin Cut Decorative Borders here with the paper tare at the top of this card.

And here on the little stitched scallop. I hand cut the banners. I also have Thin Cut Decorative Boarder stitching on the orange piece but it is hard to see.

I hope you enjoyed these pages. Make sure you stop on over to the H@H blog and show us what you come up with.

WCMD #4 pumpkin

I have had this little seed pack printable since forever. I picked it up from Splitcoast Stampers when that was the only place to get card ideas. I have made several fun cards over the years with various seed packs%

I decided to make a fun little card for our last World Card Making Day sketch #4

Paper Trufflez Team Blog Hop - Scrapbooking the Everyday

Welcome to the Paper Trufflez Team Blog Hop. The participants in this hop will be highlighting new products from the 2018 Holiday Expressions catalog. If you have come from Lisa's blog, you are on the right path.

The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here. It’s really simple to hop along with us. Simply click on the link at the end of each blog post to move to the next one.

Last year I decided to try Pocket Scrapbooking once again, I tried a few times before and lasted about a week. Well this time I stuck with it! I am so close to being done with my 2017 scrapbook so I have really been focusing on getting my pages done before the end of this year. Week 41 was all about our new little grand-daughter, so we didn't much going on for week 42. I decided to use Design 1 for this week.

I used a cut apart card from the new Boutique collection. I love this paper  the colors are so soft but trendy. I love to use the cut apart paper or our Picture My Life cards but often will just make up my own pocket pages. On a couple of these I used one of the 3 x 4 cut aparts and paired it with some regular paper or sometimes I add to the pre-printed ones to just give them a little something extra.

Like here I added a few little banners at the top as well as some Loose Sequins.

Here I did a little journaling often times I like to cut it into strips and then again I added some more Loose Sequins. You can also have a closer look of my little grands...my heart if so full.

Tip: Making your own pocket cards is a great way to up some scraps.

On week 43 I have fussy cut flowers from some leftover pattern paper, several journaling strips as well as the scallop which was left over from the Decorate Boarders, I combined with a strip of Boutique pattern paper.

Week 43 was even less exciting so I decided to use our Pocket Plus Memory Protectors Design 3 for these cards. I often use these to highlight a small week or if I have a big week where I have more to say I will use these as well.  These are also a great way to add a few more photos to your regular layouts. In Make it from Your Heart Volume 3 they include several additional photos on how to use our Pocket Plus Memory Protectors in your scrapbooks.

I have to laugh a little cause even my journal card is a little simple (some weeks are just like that) however I did use our amazing new Decorative Border Thin Cuts on the tag and did some fussy cutting to give this card a little something extra. You will see me use these a lot as they are one of my favorite new products.

Some more fussy cutting and strip journaling here.

Now “hop” on over to Andrea's blog to see her fabulous artwork. Be sure to visit all the Consultants in the hop to get some fun creative ideas. If you get lost along the way, here is a list of participants. Thanks for stopping by!

Sweetest Day SNS WCMD #3

Do you have a sweetie? Do you play into Sweetest Day? I know if it is a random made up holiday but I can't help it, I love it. I love love, I love it more when I am in love but even before I had a sweetie I did always enjoy the day. I also love weddings and sappy love stories (both books and movies) I guess I am a romantic at heart.

Today I am sharing a card I made for my sweetie.

Here is the inside of the card where I added some paper and made some banners-

I popped up the typewriter and added some shimmer and used my new Thin Cuts Decorative Boarders

Here is another one I made for my card stash.

I used our World Card Making Day Sketch #3 which I hope inspires you to make some cards. I really love this sketch and will probably use it quite a bit in the future.
