New year...new goals...CLEAN studio

Well not that Christmas is over I had to get my studio under control it was pretty insane back there!

I had piles everywhere and just a general over all mess! It is hard to be creative when you are in such a mess. So I started digging out while I was still lucky enough to be on winter break.

I dug deep! I dug out old cards that I had made kits for back in my stampin' up days. I think that is from like around 2003 or so...wow!

No automatic alt text available.

I will be honest I started to toss the little papers in the trash. But then I felt a little guilty so I dug them out and sorted, and sorted, and sorted, and cut, and sorted. Now I have a bunch more pre-stamped images...after I worked so hard to get rid of them this last year (haha)

Here is what happened! Now when I want to make a card I have card bases in the back and scraps in the front. I don't have to cut into my beautiful 12 x 12 papers I can use these up.

 No automatic alt text available.

I also reorganized my PL stuff because I am planning on doing that again this year.

Organize me please!!!

That is what my studio has been screaming at me for a good long time. I have been slowly going through my stash. I joined a Facebook page all about bashing your stash, honestly I should be bashing more of it but it is going better than it did last year so that is something right?

I have went through my paper and organized it by color and the pattern paper by manufacturer. I was being bothered that red isn't' always red but now that I have them sorted by company typically red is red.

I broke down all my Pocket Scrapbook cards by color...and then discovered that even though I love the rainbow it did not work for me here! See above statement about red not being red. I then moved all the cards back into sets and boy did I feel better.

My stamps are pretty good too grouped by type, sentiment, birthday, outdoors, fall, summer, food...you get it.

Embellishments....ahhhhhhhh the horror!!!! They are in this drawer.

 Others are in this bin

The ribbon, they are ok and the buttons...does anyone still use buttons? I shall try as I bash my stash to make this a thing.

You know what I never use hardly any of it! My work lacks the pazaz that embellishments bring. I even have brads and eyelets tons of them in every color. Because that is what a paper crafter needs everything in every color!!

So I decided to sort...everything by color. Then maybe I would use it up instead of only using it with the paper pack it goes with. The sorting took hours I have a lot more stuff than I thought. hahha ok ok just kidding I know I have a lot of stuff.

Let me tell you how awesome it was to get rid of all that packaging! So much and now I have a beautiful set of embellishments that I can...and HAVE been using.

Woodies

Pewter and Gold

 Black, White, Silver

I found these next bins at Hoby Lobby and just love the room that I have. They stack on top of each other.

Red - look at all of those goodies. I also sorted brads and that is what is in the little round tub.

 Orange

Yellow - that flower in the middle was bugging me so I have since moved that to the green bin.

Pink - this one is extra deep I have a lot of pink stuff.

Green

 Brown

Purple...I need more purple in my life.

Blue - I also have a ton of this so this one is also deep.

Here they all are together. Let me tell you that this has helped SO much I have been actually using this stuff up. Things that I have had for years and years and years! I must confess I did ditch the eyelets. I kept the brads though and have used them.

How do you store your things?

A little tour of my Studio

Hello everyone it has been a while. Life has been well simple and hectic all at the same time. I have been working on getting my studio back in order for a couple of months and I think it is finished for now. I still want to get some craft cubes and I think I have some more stuff in the basement to go through and find a home for. I thought it might be nice to show you around while it is still picked up and looking all fresh and bright!

Here is my main space I am standing at the doorway taking this photo.

A close up of my side table. I was so happy when I saw that my cricut carts fit here as before I would just shuffle them around. I also just finished organizing my pocket cards. I still need to sort them into portrait, landscape, and journaling. For right now they are sorted by color and I think I will be able to use them a lot more now. I plan on trying to do some pocket scrapbooking in the near future since that is packed full.

Here it is open I just have some planner supplies there as well as extra cuts from when I use the cricut or die cut machine. You can also see I have embellishments in the first and last drawer and washi tape in the middle. I still am not sure how I ended up with so much washi...I never buy it somehow it just appears.

Here is what I keep my cricut on. I love it because I can move it around and the paper just comes out the back and back through the front and it doesn't need a lot of room. I also have gems and tools in the handy little rolling card it sits on.

Here is the file cabinet on the other side of my desk I keep my sticker packs, accessories, and chipboard letters in this. On the bottom I just have files with ideas and sketches.

Here is my handy expedite I have some albums, unfinished pages, my December Daily from last year, some wedding stuff, books and tools inside. Up above I have all of my colors as well as my ribbons, brads and buttons.

Here is a close up of the rainbow goodies.

Oh and here is the "mess" all the other stuff I need but don't need out. Lots of stamps and all of the things I plan on putting in the cubes i mentioned up above. I also have a whole bunch of color pencils, watercolors, and chalk in the dresser that my binge TV sits on. I also have unused albums and unused page protectors in there.

Well there you have it my latest studio tour. It will be a while before I get all the cubes that I want to but once that happens I will give you an updated tour. Have a great day and look for some art work soon. Now that I have the playhouse all clean and organized I have been spending some quality time in here.

Studio tour...before

Welcome to my mess! I have been listening to the Scrap Gals podcast and let me just tell you these girls err gals are so funny! I really relate to them so much and have so much in common with them. They are totally inspiring me to get into scrapbooking again (instead of just thinking about it) and so I need to organize my stuff. I have never completely gotten organized form when we moved in March and so it is time. I am attempting to do it this weekend but I am not sure if I will be able to get it all done. If you suffer with me until the end I will also share a little artwork.

I cleaned it up a little because I have ladies coming over for a shoebox swap. Here is the over all space. I am really struggling with the layout.

Here is my printer haha it actually does have a home but when I need it I have to move it because I need an extension cord. It doesn't sit there normally and I think the stuff under the printer is scrapbooks and some layouts that need to be put away. That little table was my Grandma's she had her microwave on it. It is a perfect little table for my bigshot but again I am not sure if I am in love with it here.

Here I have my cricut on a rolling cart. I really LOVE it on there because the paper just shoots out the back and back to the front and it takes up barely any space. In those drawers I keep tools and my PTI stamps. Next to the cart I have some CTMH stamps sitting on an old entertainment center. In those bottom drawers I have cricut cartridges on top of the entertainment center I have my paper cabinets. I love those cubes and really wish I would have gotten two more. I had my bigshot on top of those but I moved that to the other table and now this is just a catch all.

Here is the other view of my space. It looks sort of nice from this angle.I recently put this little kitchen table in my room and took out the folding table. It is smaller but much more sturdy.

This is my original scrapbook space. If you look at my other studios in the past you will almost always see this desk. I love it and don't think I can part it but it needs some love. It need to go through all of this stuff and figure out what to do with it and make this work for me. This is obviously NOT working.

Here is why I love the desk so much ... all that storage!

And my expedite...I had to have one of these. Now I wish I would have gotten the two x four instead of this size. I could have done some much more with them. I need to revamp this and make it work for me. I really am at a loss here of how I want to change this up. Why my messy closet is open I have no idea...

Here is the other side of the mess. Those are all my photos and most of my childhood photos as well. I need to figure out a better system for my photos too.

So that is it folks my studio tour. I have been talking about doing one but wanted to wait until it was clean. I decided some before photos would be great. If you have any fabulous ideas of what to do in here let me know.

Here is my promised art work. This is what the ladies made at the shoebox swap last night.

Why hello there...

how have you all been? I have been well, busy. I moved again. I know I said I wasn't going to but life has its ups and downs and on one of those I have moved again. I am not ready to show you my whole place yet as it is about 80% complete.

I have been working today to finish up my studio. I have been missing my papercrafts. I have some stuff in the near future to share but in the mean time I thought I would show you my very basic creative space. I don't have any decorations up yet. I am just happy that I have a space. The new house is pretty tiny and I was pretty sure I was going to have to make some major edits to my area. While we were getting settled in I realized my little mud room would be absolutely perfect for my studio.

Cute little mud room is my new studio! Look at all that storage space!

Here are my essentials...inks...ribbon...stamps. D'oh don't look at that Fathers Day project.
Ahh...I love colors!

Did you notice that whole wall of cabinets? Well in the middle of those is this great little box window. Adorable and it also lets in a ton of light. Whoo hoo.
Here is a fun little window space that I will be able to make so cute.
Check out all this storage....

a place for all my adhesives

and all my stuff to be stamped on. Please tell me I am NOT the only one who has a bunch of things to make super cute.

pages to file

Sadly my tools have to go in the closet too but since I am just happy to have a space. I can live with this.

Magazines and Cricut Cartridges

Some cool books and catalogs. <3

Stuff I already made cute. haha

and even MORE storage...
So that is where I have been and why I have been so quite around these parts. I will be sure to post my other progress of the house as it comes along and to post some cute stuff now that I have a great space to work in!
