SNS Layout #191

I decided to work with some photos from a gorgeous day last winter. I have a love hate relationship with winter. I really love it as it is so pretty and I feel like if it has to be cold it may as well be pretty. However winter seems to last forever and ever.

On this day last December I woke up in a winter wonderland. I think it had warmed up a little and made a fog from the mix of warm air and the cold ground. Then the temperatures dropped overnight and the fog froze and this was the result. I wish you could have seen it in real life because these photos just do not do it justice.

I used Sketch N Scrap Layout Sketch #191. We would love to see what you come up with so make sure you link up your page over at our blog.

SNS Card Sketch #159

Hello everyone! Are you ready for the end of the year to happen?

We had an exciting thing happen. My husband and I bought our first home. We have been working on getting everything packed and ready to go for quite some time. We both have moved a lot in the past so this time I thought I would be strategic and keep out a couple of cards I needed to mail as well as a few items to be able to make some cards or scrapbook pages if I wanted to.

I was so proud of myself and then I needed one of the said cards....wouldn't you know I couldn't find it anywhere! It is ok right? I have a few inks out and some of my favorite stamps most of which have cute matching dies. Did I also mention they need to be colored. Ok, welp I packed up my die machine as well as my markers, colored pencils and brushes (if I wanted to use an ink pool from a pad).

Hahaha oh my. So I started digging around my stash and found this cute little Snoopy that I was given this summer at the Expo (they had a snoopy theme night) and wouldn't you know Snoopy is holding a gift. Awww Snoopy to the rescue!

So I made this cute card and I was ready to assemble. Adhesive check, pop dots....hmmm nope. Ok I dig around and then I dig around some more and finally I just dig for something anything I can pop this up with. Since I apparently packed my pop dots I moved on to my glue dots while i try to figure something out. I am sure you have guessed by now I can't find them either and I am pretty sure they are packed at the bottom of a stack of heavy boxes. So I found some chipboard and picked out a couple that I have had forever and still have not used and popped up Snoopy. made my regular adhesive work where I needed the glue dots and wala birthday card ready to go.

Yay I was able to make a card. I used card sketch #159. I was able to use this cute die circle Planner Pocket - 2 Die  from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

My MIL loved the card and when I find the one I was planning on sending her. I will set it aside for next year.

Here is the adorable card sketch #159 we would love to see what you come up with. Be sure to link up with us over at the blog.

SNS Card Sketch #158

I am not sure what exactly it is about this sketch but when I saw it I totally fell in love with it. I can just envision using it time and time again. I came up with a set of cards within minutes. I used up a bunch of old stash (flowers from a PersonalScrapper Kit) and scraps. Here is the first one I came up with.

I love to also add some banners or some other simple thing to bring some color to the inside of the card as well. This card seriously came together in no time and I already know who I am going to send it to.

SNS Layout # 188

Hello everyone - I hope you are having a nice fall.  The leaves in the Midwest have been beautiful this year.

I decided to work a little bit more on some photos from 2014 when I made my first trip down to Mississippi. I am normally so on top of photos but didn't think of any group shots until we were about to make the long drive home. An early morning photo shoot is probably not one of my best ideas and even though we all look a little rough this page still just makes me smile.

I used Sketch N Scrap Layout Sketch #188. We would love to see what you come up with so make sure you link up your page over at our blog.

SNS Layout Sketch #187

I have been trying to get back to scrapping just for fun. I was a CTMH consultant for quite a while and while I LOVE CTMH and I really enjoy being a consultant sometimes I lose my focus in trying to use only certain products or make super cute classes. It makes me lose site of what I really should be doing which is making pages.

I decided that I just didn't have the time or the space currently to run my business as I really saw it being run and so I decided to step away for a bit. I may end up signing back up sometime int he future for CTMH or maybe some other fun venture but for now I am just going to enjoy making things.

So making pretty things is what I have been doing. I grabbed this sketch from SNS as they are my go to for sketches.

Way back in 2014 I went down to Mississippi for the very first time. I have been back several times now as my some of my hubby's (and now my) family lives down there. Anyway we went down there for Thanksgiving. I have quite few fun photos and sweet photos to scrap in the near future but this set always makes me giggle. Kenny is trying to give his sister a kiss on the cheek and she wants no part of it. I love that I snapped that photo at just the right moment.

2019 WCMD SNS #1

Hello are you ready for a fun busy month of making lots of beautiful cards? We are kicking off the week with World Card Making Day Sketch #1

I have been trying to use my stamps that have never seen ink before. I decided to make something with these adorable little Hedge Hogs from 2010! Yikes, look for me to do a series using stamps that haven't seen ink next year while at the same time using up older adorable papers that I have also had for years.

I went in a different direction with this sketch but it was a ton of fun making this Birthday Card. When I first saw this sketch I was picturing fall leaves or a gorgeous flower and instead I went fun and colorful from the balloons to the little bling gems. I was also able to use some of my NEW Copic Markers. I ran into a great sale and picked up several new colors. Do you like to color? What is your favorite coloring medium? It is probably not fair for me to ask as I am not sure I could pick a favorite. I love them all, watercolors, pencils, crayons, ink.

Here is the inside of my card as well.

Here is the sketch WCMD SNS #1 We would love to see what you created for World Card Making Day over at Sketch N Scrap.

SNS Card Sketch #155

Hello everyone! How is your month going? Are you ready for October? Trips to the apple orchard, pumpkin everything (shhhhhh I am not a fan), the leaves are turning...oh and rain. Lots of rain. Rain means that you could spend some time in your craft room since you can't really get outside and do stuff.

A few weeks ago my dad turned 70! Wow, I first remember him turning 29, now mind you I though that was old and since I have passed that long ago I realize just how young he was. He still seems young to me maybe because he doesn't look it, or he doesn't act it, or most of my friends parents are hovering around 80. Anyway I am not hear to talk about his age just that I got to celebrate with him. We went out to dinner and wouldn't you know it, I forgot this card at home. haha.

I thought this card sketch #155 was just adorable and perfect for a birthday card. Originally I was going to put a 7 and a 0 where the car is. Then I thought I might add a motorcycle there since he loves to ride. In the end I went with a car as he has taken up a habit of buying and selling cars lately. I can't even tell you what he is currently driving. I was able to use this fun new circle Planner Pocket - 2 Die  from Elizabeth Craft Designs...I ran into their booth at the Expo and fell in love so just know you will see more fun dies and stamps from them featured here in the near future.

I was also able to use up some more of my stash that I had leave over from what I think was a Simple Stories line. It was the last sheet of this paper I had, yeah!

I also like to decorate the inside of my cards.

Here is the adorable card sketch #155 we would love to see what you come up with. Be sure to link up with us over at the blog.

SNS Layout Sketch 186

I will let you in on a little secret, I have not been doing any traditional scrapbooking lately. I have been focusing on organizing my supplies and on getting my 2018 Happy Planner Scrapbook done. It uses little 2 x 2 and 2 x 3 photos and I do a weekly spread. I have been enjoying it. I have however missed just grabbing a set of photos and working with them to create a cute page. This is one of the reasons I LOVE sketches. I can grab and go pretty quick and come up with an adorable page featuring two of my little grands

Here is my take on Sketch #186

I used up some super old papers from a PersonalScrapper Kit, I sure do miss that club. The papers are mainly just cardstock but there is also some JillyBean Soup in there as well.

I used some stickers and some chipboard to indicate the fun things they did at the apple orchard.

I also mixed some fonts to make the title.

We would love to see what you come up with using the sketch below!

SNS Card Sketch #154

Happy Happy Birthday to my first baby girl. I wanted to make my oldest daughter a card for her 29th birthday and so I again grabbed this fun paper from American Crafts called Along the Way. It is just so playful and sweet. I also used it here and here. When I saw the sketches for this month I knew I wanted to do something with it because it has one of my go to styles of one paper on the bottom and another on the top. I also just adore anything with banners.

I did minimal stamping on this card as I wanted to keep it sweet and simple. I fussy cut one of the girls out and popped her up with pop dots and added some little gold balls.

Here is the card from another angle

SNS Card Sketch #153

We have this fun bonus card using this sketch from the beginning of the month. Again I love all things banners so this was a quick and simple card for me to put together.

I think I will do another version of this one in the near future. It is a great sketch. Lots of possibilities with different paper and sentiments.

We would love to see what you come up with! Come and join us at Sketch N Scrap.

SNS Layout #184

I have a very special page for you today about a special lady. My grandma was to turn 100 years old in a few days on September 5th. Sadly she passed away a few weeks ago in late July. I knew when I saw this sketch I would want to feature her. I took a copy of this photo a while ago of her and her mom on the side of the mountain and she told me about this car and retold me the story of getting her license by sending just $1.00 to Nashville, no test or anything.

I am looking forward to savoring my many many memories that I have of my grandma and putting them down on paper while they are still relatively fresh in my memories. I should have done better recording them.

I cut the journaling into strips and added little metallic pearls to the flowers. I also fussy cut several sets of flowers and popped them up.

I also used a doily which I love but never ever use. So happy to try new thing in my pages.

I used paper from Photo Play from the Free Bird line. It is so pretty and vintage but also very bright and cheerful. Perfect for older photos. We hope you can join us over at Sketch N Scrap.

SNS Layout #183

Last year we went to Florida to see my in-laws for Thanksgiving, sounds terrible doesn't it? Take me back!!!

I love going to my in-laws anytime but going in November is a real treat. We were lucky enough to be able to go out on a date-night while we were there.

The last time we went we tried to catch a sunset and wouldn't you know it we had a cloudy day!  This time around we had a gorgeous night. It may have been even sweeter because we knew the weather back in Northern Illinois was insane! I believe we got over a foot of snow and it was so COLD on top of that. We knew we should enjoy every moment of this beautiful evening away.

I used up some old thickers and was impressed that I only had to piece together the "e" and the "t's" with a C+L and an F. I am not sure if you can see it but I did some faux stitching up top as well as in the lower right hand corner.

Here is my stitching. I added some starfish and some gold nuggets into the circles.

Just another view. I really adore how each it was to use Sketch #183 to capture this special night.

Here is the sketch I used SNS #183 we would love to have you show us what you have come up with using this or one of our other sketches featured this month.

Come and see us soon!

SNS Card Sketch #151

Hello Dear Readers Happy August! Yes, I actually said August!! Can you believe it is already August I don't know about you but in our neck of the woods (Northern Illinois) we wait and wait and wait for summer and then it gets started and you blink and it is August and you are prepping for school to start back up. Yikes

Anyway, I hope you are having a fun summer. Ours has been busier than ever and we have made a lot of memories that I will be able to scrapbook soon. In the mean time I have been making cards. Some of them have been very elaborate and some of them have been quick and simple.

Today I am sharing a simple monochromatic card that I made using Sketch #151

I have had this stamp set for a very long time. Like many of them I had to have it! I have used it one time...here in this project. One of my goals is to start using them. If I can't figure out why I loved it enough to buy it I need to pass it on, sell it, donate it, something rather than letting it sit in my drawer.

Cardstock - White Daisy, Raspberry
Ink - Raspberry, Charcole
Stamps - So Many Smiles
Other - Hot Pink Crystal Gems

SNS Card Sketch #150

Have you noticed we have a new format for our online monthly crops yet? We now have a new Sketch N Scrap's Monthly Facebook Challenges Group this group is replacing our old crop events allowing us to manage entries and be more interactive. We hope you can join us.

Here is a card I made using the card sketch from earlier this month SNS Card Sketch #150. I tried something new and only colored in the heart and the hair clip on the little girl and love the way it looked. I got those cute little wooden accents and those papers in a swap that I was recently in. They were all so adorable and went so well together.

Chemistry is fun!  Last year we went to a Chemistry Demonstration at NIU. They did all sorts of fun things for us on the stage these demos involved Balloons, Liquids, Fruit, Race-cars, Fire, and Maizies favorite part Ice Cream. When I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for this fun event. Here is how my page turned out.

SNS Card Sketch #149

Well I have a cute card share for you today using a versatile sketch that i see myself using again and again. I was invited to a baby shower for one of my daughters oldest friends (months ago?) and had all sorts of ideas on what to make. I happened to not be able to make it so my daughter asked me if I was going to stop by. I said, I can but why? She said to drop off that gift...wait what?!?!

You would think that I know better by now to procrastinate!

pro·cras·ti·nate
/prəˈkrastəˌnāt/
verb
  1. delay or postpone action; put off doing something.

Nope I am not sure I will ever learn...so sketch to the rescue.

I made up this quick card using that adorable paper pack from my Hello card

Then I had to figure out what in the world I was going to make her...I decided to make up some Holiday Onsies that she can use as the holidays approach. Now had I thought this through a lot more I could have made these shirts on different color shirts but a procrastinator can only do so much when they hardly have any time!!! Anyway for the most part I like how they turned out (spoiler alert - she loved them).

Here is another angle on the card you can see I popped the hearts up and added some bling.

So here is the adorable Sketch #149 we would LOVE to see what you do with it...ehem...sooner rather than later.
