A Fish Tale

A while back my mom came over to tell me a whopper fish tale only it was actually true she went fishing and caught a giant fish! The funniest part of the story was her boyfriend only caught a fish about the size of a minnow. Hahaha

Anyway she wanted me to make a scrapbook for her. I was going to use the Timberline Kit because I thought it was perfect for fishing. Well when I saw all of the photos it just wasn't a fit. So I set them aside, and they sat and sat and sat. As you may know I am trying to use up my papers and I came across the WOTG Kit Tommy. WOW can you say perfect fit? Wait until you see this...

Here is the cover it is just a  Koozie that I cut down

I found this album on a garage sale table for $1 and it was full of page protectors. So I scrapbooked the best photos of the 50 my mom gave me and put rest throughout the pages and it just turned out perfect.

I made this mat with the Artbooking cartridge

Apparently they had to get a fishing licence for a  day so here is my mom overlooking the water and that little tab above her head pulls out

See - pretty nifty that opens up

Here is one of my favorite pages love how the embellishments came together

Here is a photo of that giant fish I was talking about hahahah note the arrow pointing it out

The captain even cut and cleaned the fish for them.

The whole gang...it sure looks like a fun day.

The best part of using WOTG's is how much you have leftover...

Wait until you see all the cards I  made, I will share them in the next week or so.

Do you like to make mini albums?

Mini Album Love

Over at Practical Scrappers today we are featuring mini albums. I seriously love making mini albums they are just so fun and cute and often interactive. I decided to make this mini album all about my true love...my grandma. She is one special lady and I just adore her.

I used the Dotty for You paper pack that CTMH had as a special back in May. I hope you like what I came up with.

Artiste - Day 26

Hello! Welcome to the Artiste blog hop you have probably arrived from Kathy's blog if not feel free to start right here.

I  thought I would make a cute little mini album, also for my cousin. I kept it pretty plain as I am not sure is she is having girls or boys or both and since each day really will be an adventure...

Anyway I used the chipboard that comes with the Artiste Cartridge and added some bakers twin and ribbon to the jump rings.

I adore mini books. How about you? Do you love them? Do you make them?

Hop on over to Jen's blog and see what she has in store. I will see you tomorrow.

Fun summer mini album

So I love to see altered stuff and mini books and always have the best intentions of making all these fun cute little things but then never end up doing it. Until now. I got this fun little book in a kit and decided I was going to make it right away before it ended up in my huge to be made pile. By huge I mean a whole dresser full (blush)

Here is the front
On one side of the slices I put recent photos of my family

On the other I just did fun little vignettes

 Here are some close ups

Lets talk about Workshops on the Go's

Have you used them? Do you know what they are? They are delightful, wonderful, and adorable. They will make your scrapbooking/cardmaking life...Faster.Simpler. Easier!
This WOTG features Cherry-O paper and comes with an exclusive B size stamp set.
Each WOTG comes with enough supplies to make 12 cards and 4 scrapbook pages.
Here are the first three cards. Notice the cute detail of the brad in the button? Wow why didn't I think of that?
Here are the cards with the scrapbook pages.
More quick cards with those adorable details using the Mini medley packs. These packets are designed to be used. I know I used to hord my emblishments but now I use them and then just buy more. The great thing about these are each little set of minis go together so well and make pages and cards extra cute.
And the pages.
Here is everything that I still had left after making all of those cute projects! Can you beleive it? Wow
So I made a few of these....fun little mini photo book to put friends in.

H2H techie in paradise

I have a little something to share with all of you tonight. I am working on a really cool mini book about a trip I took to LA last year. I was able to visit with a dear friend and spend some time at the beach. I was really happy to be able to get back to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge's as I have missed a few of them.

I thought this would be a perfect time to show a simple technique with you. Distressing, it is easy...fun...and adds so much to a project. One of  my friends thinks I distress everything but I beg to differ alas this little mini needs some stress...err distress.

Usually I just take some snips and open them up and scrap along the edge of the paper. Once that is done I usually push the cardstock forward and back with my finger.

Here is what the mini looks like as you can see the edges have all been destressed. Once I did that I inked up the edges of all the sides. I also inked up the edges of the tan board papers. (that is hard to see in this photo)

Here is a close up of the flower I added some pop dots and some stardust glitz. I just love that stuff!

Clearly I had fun...

Clear acrylic albums they are all the rage and I have been itching to make mine up since I got it a few months ago. I just didn't know where I wanted to go with it and so it sat and taunted me. I would scrap or make cards and it would sit there clearly mocking me...well I had the last laugh as I finally dove into the album after seeing a beautiful album made by a fellow demo named Suzie that had been done using instructions from Diane Tuggle. My fist incling was to copy hers until I figured out that I didn't have what she used so then I was on my own. I did use the Perfect Day paper and made the front cover almost identicle but that is where the similarities end. Thank you Diane and Suzie for such great inspiration.
Here is what the whole album looks like when it is all finished.
Once I started the album I realized the challenges!
What adhesvie, where to place the papers, do you leave some of it clear...it just goes on and on. I used regular adhesive just my Tombo and glue dots. I did thing things through though. I put the adhesive where I knew that I would cover it up on the other side.
I also made sure that my pages looked nice and complemened each other. As you can see here the little page matches the page that it will be open to.
I also knew that I wanted to be able to keep several parts clear so that you could see what was on the next page. That was part of the fun really.
Here you can see the Tulip scallops from the next page and the hint of cream scallops from the page after that.
I don't think I mentioned that the pictures that I chose to use were photos that I have had forever and ever. I went to California when I was 19, it was a gift from my parents for my 18th brithday. Anyway for some reason I only took one roll of photos. I wanted to tell the story so I journaled...a lot.
This was a fun story to tell though so I didn't mind at all. This was pretty much the middle of the book so you really can't see much of what was in behind anything here but I love the way it turned out.
I also used the same paper and only adheard it to once sice so that Sorbet that you see is used for both pages.
I want you to notice the arrow as this is fun too...on one side it says Redondo Peir and on the other it says Redondo Beach. I also have the fourish chip board covered with juniper paper and it mimics waves.
Again here you can see all the scallops and hints of this that and the other from the pages before.
And at last the end. Did you notice the clear buttons? I covered them in double sided paper that went along with the page.
I finished it off with tons more journaling and then I tied ribbon along the jump rings. I used cream, sorbet, chocolate and want to add a tulip color when I get the chance.
Well I hope you have enjoyed this album and I hope you have been inspired to make one for yourself.
