H2H techie in paradise

I have a little something to share with all of you tonight. I am working on a really cool mini book about a trip I took to LA last year. I was able to visit with a dear friend and spend some time at the beach. I was really happy to be able to get back to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge's as I have missed a few of them.

I thought this would be a perfect time to show a simple technique with you. Distressing, it is easy...fun...and adds so much to a project. One of  my friends thinks I distress everything but I beg to differ alas this little mini needs some stress...err distress.

Usually I just take some snips and open them up and scrap along the edge of the paper. Once that is done I usually push the cardstock forward and back with my finger.

Here is what the mini looks like as you can see the edges have all been destressed. Once I did that I inked up the edges of all the sides. I also inked up the edges of the tan board papers. (that is hard to see in this photo)

Here is a close up of the flower I added some pop dots and some stardust glitz. I just love that stuff!

A before school adventure

So every year since Danielle was a very little girl and off to her first day in Kindergarten I have taken a first day of school photo, I also take a last day of school photo but that is a different post.
In 2007, yes I am still scrapping that. LOL I mainly scrap in chronological order but if I want to do some current stuff I jump around. So back to 2007. That is when I got married what I was not planning was the school district starting school so early that year~! I was on my Honeymoon which meant I obviously could not take my traditional first day of school photos! Yikes!!! I gave my mom and my girls instructions and begged them to please remember to take first day pics. Well guess what? They remembered! Yay, I think they turned out pretty good too.

Danielle even had her friends drive all the way over to the next town so they can go together like they always do. I thought it was cute that she drug them over so they could be in the photo's too rather than just meeting them at their houses. Haha...she knows exactly what I am looking for in my photos.

I love this paper! This is the Moon Doogie Level 2 paper pack with the My Stickease. I believe, yes it also has the little journal cards too. Those are super cute as they look like little post cards and stamps. Can we say adorable and fun! I also love the crochet ribbon it is so versatile.
You will have to come back for the last day photos as those are in 2008 and well....

Close to my Heart Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Close to my Heart Summer 2009 Idea Book Blog Hop!!! Over 40 Close to my Heart Consultants are celebrating the release of the Summer 2009 Idea Book. We have all made fabulous creations using the new products that were released hop right in and check out all of the fun fabulous new items available on May 1.
If you just came from Corey's blog then you are heading in the right direction. If not go back to Erin's blog to start at the beginning.
I decided that I had to have the Moon Doggie paper and coordinating stamp sets. Here are a projects that I came up with.
The small card and the scrapbook pages came right out of the Workshops on the Go. I just love the way it turned out. When I was making my page I was just so impressed at how easy it was to follow the directions. I love how CTMH always remembers the details.
I mean just look at this close up with the pretty layering and the stamped Paradise definition...so lovely.
Here is page two

and again the attention to details.
I left my Journey Journaling Spots loose so that I could journal all about our vacation.
This double page spread uses paper from the Moon Doggie level 2 paper pack, Journey Journaling Spots, My Steakease Assortment (level 2), Extreme Happiness, Building Block Alphabet, Crochetd Ribbon, Cranberry Ink, and Desert Sand Ink.
My next project was a quick little 4 x 4 card featuring the exact same stuff as I used for the page.
The next thing I want to show you is a card that I made using the Originals Book from CTMH. I used the Three Elements pattern and I just love how it turned out.
This card is a 6x6 design and uses the Level 2 Moon Doggie paper pack, Cranberry, Garden Green and Honey Ink. I also used brads and crocheted ribbon. On fun element of this card is I used my paper cutter to score the Indian Blue card stock and sanded it down to the core.
This is one of my favorite techiques. The ohter thing I did here was rock and roll stamping. Basically you ink up your stamp, stamp off and then come back around on your ink pad loading up just the sides of your image.
I tried to get a good picture for you here of the flower stems. I used Liquid Glass on the ends. It looks really cute. I also popped up the flowers.
Well I hope you enjoyed your time here at Paisleys Playhouse. Please come back often.
Next you are off to see Amy at My life...as a whifey!
